Police: Man Arrested with 17 Bags of Marijuana in Irvington

A bulletproof vest was also found in the vehicle, police said.

A traffic stop on South Broadway led to the arrest of a Mount Vernon man who had a large quantity of marijuana on him, according to the Irvington Police Department.

The 22-year-old man was found to have 17 baggies of marijuana—as well as a partially-consumed marijuana cigarette—on him on July 19 at about 5 p.m, police reported.

Police also said they found a bulletproof vest in the vehicle. It was taken and held by police, though the man has not been charged with a crime related to the possession of the vest.

He was charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the Fifth Degree, a misdemeanor.

The man was processed and released and police headquarters and released on his own recognizance. He is due in Village Court on August 12.
