Police: Man Caught Smoking Marijuana in Hastings

Police reportedly observed the man smoking marijuana inside a vehicle on Aqueduct Lane.

A Hastings-on-Hudson police officer reported seeing a suspicious vehicle on Aqueduct Lane on October 31 with two people inside.

After approaching the vehicle, the officer arrested the person in the driver's seat, a 27-year-old man, after he was reportedly observed smoking a substance believed to be marijuana from a brown cigar wrapper.

The Yonkers resident was charged with Criminal Possession of Marijuana in the Fifth Degree, a misdemeanor, at police headquarters. He was processed and released on $100 bail with a returnable court date of November 6.

Police took as evidence the "burned brown cigar crapper" that contained a greenish brown leafy substance believed to be marijuana, as well as a small clear plastic bag with a similar-looking substance inside.

His passenger was not charged.

Note: Arrests do not indicate convictions.
