A 22-year-old Sleepy Hollow man was charged with unlawful possession of marijuana Monday, while in Irvington Village Court for the same crime—for which he was convicted,
The man—while in court—was discovered to have an active bench warrant from Sleepy Hollow police for failure to appear in court after police charged him with trespassing.
The man was taken into custody in Irvington before being turned over to Sleepy Hollow PD.
"We wouldn't normally search someone in court, but because of the bench warrant, we did," said Irvington Sgt. Michael Foley.
He was issued another appearance ticket for Irvington court and turned over to face his charges in Sleepy Hollow.
