A 14-year old resident of St. Chrisopher’s in Hastings-on-Hudson is being charged with multiple felonies after stealing a car and resisting arrest, both Hastings-on-Hudson and Dobbs Ferry police said.

Police said the defendant was seen “jumping into and fleeing off in” a green 2005 Toyota Corolla on Thursday, Dec. 12 at approximately 6 p.m. The victim, a 37-year old female from Yonkers, had gone into Slices Pizza while leaving her car open and running. Upon leaving the restaurant she witnessed her car being stolen.

The victim called Hastings-on-Hudson police and reported that she was “on foot running after the car and has just lost sight of it, but believes it turned onto Broadway,” police said.

After being notified with a broadcast from Hastings-on-Hudson police, Dobbs Ferry police picked up pursuit on Broadway. Police located the vehicle parked on Maple Street and witnessed the defendant flee into the backyard of a local residence. Police continued its pursuit before locating and arresting the defendant in Dobbs Diner, police said.

The defendant is currently facing charges from both police departments, including a criminal possession of stolen property in the fourth degree, and grand larceny in the fourth degree in Hastings-on-Huson – both felonies. Along with an additional criminal possession of stolen property charge, he is also being charged with resisting arrest in Dobbs Ferry, police said.

Police said since the defendant is a juvenile, his case will be handled by Family Court in Yonkers.

The car was left open and running -- did it have a bow on the top? The kid was merely seizing an opportunity, he's a St. Chris kid, what do you expect -- The 37 year old broad on the other hand -- open an running? Where does she think she is, Mayberry? C'mon C.V., Graham School, you guys are getting sloppy, missed a great opportunity here.
