Second Ransom Scam Attempt Reported in Irvington

A female resident of Irvington received a call from people who said her son had been taken hostage.

A second attempt at a phone scam has been reported in Irvington.

On June 24, at 11:19 a.m., a 52-year-old village resident told police an unknown caller said her son had been taken hostage.

The caller demanded $1,500 in payments be made in exchange for his life.

Police said the woman did not make any payments.

The Irvington Police Department reported it continues to investigate the incident and believes the call is from the same group of people who targeted a local business owner just days earlier.
