Wrong-Way Drunk Driver Arrested After Saw Mill Crash: Police

The driver was charged with driving while intoxicated after the accident, police said.

A man driving the wrong way on the Saw Mill River Parkway this morning collided with another vehicle at about 5 a.m., according to Westchester County Police.

A 911 caller reported spotting a black BMW traveling north in the Saw Mill's southbound lanes just north of the Ashford Avenue exit, police said.

Responding police found the car the caller described had collided with a second vehicle near Route 119. Police said the wrong-way driver, a 32-year-old Englewood, NJ, resident; as well as the other the driver, were not seriously injured.

The second driver was taken to Westchester Medical Center in Valhalla with non-life-threatening injuries, police added.

The Englewood man was arrested at the scene and charged with Driving While Intoxicated and Reckless Driving, misdemeanors.

He was arraigned in Irvington Village Court, pending an August 14 Elmsford Village Court appearance.

Westchester County Jail records indicate the man remains incarcerated as of Monday evening.

Note: Arrests do not indicate convictions.
