Hastings-on-Hudson Democrats say they are pleased with the track records of Mayor Peter Swiderski and Trustees Meg Walker and Bruce Jennings, and nominated the incumbents at their caucus Tuesday night.
Hastings will vote to elect candidates for two trustee positions and the mayoral seat on the Hastings Board of Trustees in the March 19 election.
“They have more than lived up to their campaign promises made in years past,” said Hastings Democratic Committee Chair Ellen Hendrickx of the incumbents. “The Village has benefitted tremendously. They have set the bar very high for another term, and in fact for those who follow. We have faith that they will deliver."
The incumbents were also nominated at the Hastings Democratic caucus in January 2011. Though about 16 members attented the Republican caucus there were no nominations.
"While we sought candidates for village positions, we did not nominate anybody for office in this year's election,” said Hastings Republican Committee Chairman Tim Hays. "We are always looking for qualified candidates to run on our Republican line."
The incumbents may still be challenged as independent candidates still have until Feb. 13 to file a petition to get on the ballot, while Jan. 31 is the last day to file a certificate of party nomination.
