Report: 65K in Westchester, Rockland and Putnam Signed Up for Obamacare

About 1 million New Yorkers have signed up for health care through the Affordable Care Act, nicknamed Obamacare.

About 65,000 residents of the Lower Hudson Valley have signed up for Obamacare through the New York exchange, according to The Journal News based on information from a report by NYStateofHealth.

Reporter Jane Lerner writes that six months into the implementation of the federal and state initiative, area residents are generally satisfied with the program's choices. A total of about 1 million New York State residents have signed up for Obamacare.

"So far, it's working out great for us," Dobbs Ferry resident Chris Saraceni told The Journal News. "No problems at all."

Dad01-Your assumption that these programs will help anyone is just that an assumption and based on what, how successful Obama has been so far? Obamacare like all socialist programs will just make things worse and will effect the people it claims to help the most. Look at the VA hospitals they are functioning great. . . making lists of who will die. . . I mean the government is great for health care. . .let's hand more of it over to them. . .they are doing wonderfully at the VA. . .at least they are telling us they are. . ."nothing to see here." Second, I haven't been "fortunate," I and my family worked hard for what we have EARNED, and have made correct choices in life whereas others do not. Trust me I ate a lot of ramen noodles, put off having children, and worked horrible minimum wage jobs. I started my business with $3000 in the bank, you think the government helped me with that? No it charged me this registration fee, and license fee, and forced me to hire accountants and attorneys just to hire a few people. People end up with what they deserve and luck is a very small portion of it, it is mostly hard work. If you think luck is the guiding factor in life I can pretty much guarantee you are or will be a failure. Third, trust me my children are of no concern of yours. Finally, the fact that you see someone who paid over $40k in just NYS/property tax alone last year as the "problem" IS THE REAL PROBLEM. You can call the mooches whatever you want but when the tax payers leave, who will pay for their entitlement programs? It's a simple question and one you completely ignore. I know they are mooches because I lived with them when I was eating Ramen noodles, I couldn't work hard enough to get out. They couldn't work hard enough to advance a spot in the welfare line. Anyways, like I said good luck to you and the rest of liberals who have literally ruined this once great state and are too blind to see it. Once wall street leaves and takes their evil money somewhere more business friendly NY will be a 3rd world hell hole and won't that be great for the "unfortunate". . more unfortunates. Finally NYS with all its great regulations protecting you and Indian Point is right up the river from NYC. . .wow those regulations you speak so highly of work great don't they.

Couple of points then we'll be through. VA is an abomination, and has been for many years, way before Obama as well, but all should be ashamed. What does that have to do with Obamacare? Obamacare is not socialized medicine at all. 0. Some get subsidies, but this is insurance, with private, for profit insurance companies, the same companies that I can choose through my employer. You can't tell a person who is on a plan obtained through an exchange, with or without a subsidy, from me using the same insurance company. This is capitalism. Yes, I know, you earned every penny you ever got. Roads, bridges, public schools, cops, firefighters, etc. have absolutely nothing to do with anything you have.

If you think Obamacare is capitalism you are stupider than I thought. It's not capitalism when the government takes from a group to subsidize another group, that is pretty much the definition of socialism. On top of that the expanded medicare gives those in "need" completely free care. On top of that the role of government has expanded where they now force everyone to have insurance and control what is covered and for how much through regulation. Who do you think pays for the subsidies and medicare/medicaid? I understand the difference between the VA and Obamacare and your kind generally wants VA style HC for everyone in terms of single payer. What do you think is the cause of the VA problems? Just a few employees? the veterans? can you find a way to blame the rich and successful for that one? I'll fill you in, it is that it is completely controlled by the government which consistently lead to systemic failure in pretty much everything they take on. BTW I'm completely fine with paying taxes for roads, bridges, cops, firefighters, etc and when the government can do that right. . .maybe they can start to do other things. . .first they have to do that right.

well my company downgraded our insurance twice because it was a cadillac plan. I'm fine with everyone having options for healthcare but why punish companies for offering better benefits. Companies should be rewarded for better benefits.
