Rivertowns Residents Endure Without Power

There are still more than 1,000 without power in Hastings-on-Hudson, Dobbs Ferry and Irvington.

Though Rivertowns Public Schools opened its doors Monday, restoring a sense of normalcy to the villages, after being closed for a week due to Superstorm Sandy—there are still more than 1,000 residents and businesses without power.

According to Con Edison’s outage map (which may not reflect actual outage numbers), the following outages are being reported in the river villages as of 1 p.m. on Monday, Nov. 5:

  • Ardsley 214
  • Dobbs Ferry 487
  • Hastings-on-Hudson 487
  • Irvington 1,034 (Irvington’s mayor reports the # at 690 as of Sunday night)

While gas is easier to come by than it was over the weekend—there are still many gas stations without gas and waiting lines for those that do have fuel, along with complaints of price gouging. In light of the hardships faced by fellow neighbors, as well as those in New York City, Staten Island and New Jersey—many locals are organizing ways to reach out and offer help to those in need.

Stay tuned for more ways you can help, updates on outages and resources to help get you what you need while without power.
