Hastings Toy Drive for Staten Island Sandy Victims
When/ Where: Through Wednesday, Dec. 14 Drop off at the James Harmon Community Center, 44 Main St. in Hastings-on-Hudson between (Monday-Wednesday 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.; 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. on Thursday and 9 a.m. to noon on Friday)
Why: Help to make the holidays bright for those who were affected by Hurricane Sandy by donating toys to children in Staten Island. Thanks to Lynx Transport Co. of Hastings-on-Hudson who donated the use of their trucks to deliver the toys. Irvington Christmas Holiday Basket Drive
When/Where: Now through Dec. 25
Why: The Irvington Recreation Department is once again getting ready for its annual Christmas Holiday Basket Delivery program that has volunteers donate items for gift baskets and deliver them to local senior citizens and families in need. The recreation department is currently looking for families able to deliver baskets in the area on Christmas morning of Tuesday, Dec. 25.
Those who would like to deliver baskets must be able to carry up to 50 pounds and must pick up their basket between on Dec. 21 between 9 a.m. and 4 p.m. or on Monday, Dec. 24 between 9 a.m. and 12 p.m. at the recreation department office, 71 Main St. You can also volunteers to deliver baskets to Irvington seniors who live in local health care facilities on Dec. 22 and 23.
If you can’t make deliveries you can donate: gift cards from Stop & Shop, Kohl’s, Target, Modell’s, Sports Authority, K-Mart or Wal-Mart; money (checks can be made to the Village of Irvington and mailed to the recreation department, 71 Main St.); or unwrapped boxed candy or cookies.
Items can be dropped off at 71 Main St. Monday through Friday between 9 a.m. and 5 p.m. or by making an appointment.

Decorate Gifts for Sandy Victims
When/Where: Monday, Dec. 17 from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m.; Dobbs Dawg House, 25 Cedar St. in Dobbs Ferry
Why: Join this local restaurant in decorating gifts for the children of West Elementary School in Long Beach, Long Island, who recently suffered from Hurricane Sandy.
Dobbs Dawg House is asking those that attend to purchase a book on the Amazon registry to replace books students lost in the storm. You can bring the item from the wish list on Dec. 17 or ship it directly to the school’s principal. (See the attached picture for lists and details or click here).
F-to-F’s Gift Giving for Sandy’s Child Victim’s

Why: The Hastings-on-Hudson based Family-to-Family non-profit organization is asking local children to give up one special gift they are asking for this holiday season and donate those funds to F-to-F.
The funds (100%) will be used for F-to-F’s shopping party where parents of children from four schools who were hard hit by Sandy will be able to shop for a gift for each of their children. Volunteers will wrap the gift so that parents could give it to their kids for the holidays.

Westchester County Annual Toy Drive
When/Where: Now through Christmas; Westchester County Office Building (first floor), 148 Martine Ave. in White Plains
Why: The Westchester County Department of Social Services is asking residents to purchase an extra gift, make a cash or gift card donation, or sponsor a child by purchasing a gift specifically requested gift. Donations can be left in the holiday collection bin on the first floor of the County’s office building.

St. Matthew’s Church Collects Toys for Yonkers, Staten Island Children
When/Where: Until Christmas; St. Matthew Parish, 616 Warburton Ave. in Hastings-on-Hudson
Why: The church will collect presents for children of St. Peter’s Parish in Yonkers, as well as gifts for children who were devastated by Sandy in Staten Island.
Please drop off unwrapped gifts in the church’s collection box in the back. If you want your gift to specifically go to Staten Island, indicate this with a tag on the gift.
You can also donate money directly to the Staten Island neighborhood or buy lottery tickets for a stuff animal, with proceeds going to the same cause by contacting the church at (914) 478-2822.
