GREAT VIBE, Uber-Diverse, Port Chester is Not That Far, Let's Hear it for Matt Turk's Band

Last Tuesday night at Garcias in Port Chester was SO MUCH FUN! Matt Turk's band is playing there next Tuesday, too (August 27), for the fourth night in a series. It's only 7 bucks and really easy to get to. Lots of people from Hastings are hanging out there to enjoy this band. Everyone is really relaxed and the music is soothing and invigorating. This is the perfect antidote to a long day! Or a short day! Or a crunchy day! Or a wilted day! Or a mashed-up, how~did~we~end~up~in~this~mess kind of day!

Deni Bonet sets the house on fire with fiddle & vocals;  Adam Roberts lets loose with a funky, deep, ever-in- the-pocket groove on bass; Ayodele Maakheru channels pure benevolence and serenity via really jazzy banjo, and Howard Cohen handles the guitar in various aspects of soulfulness. Matt (on mandolin and vocals) leads from the back in the spirit of true musicianship and takes the group through all kinds of evolving explorations of Jerry Garcia's music as well as folk tunes and rock tunes you treasure. The crowd is uber-diverse and no one cares if you came by yourself or any of that crap. GREAT VIBE! Very intimate; very jazzy.
