Help Irvington Make Safer 'Routes to School'

A parent survey now available will help the district maintain funding for biking and walking paths around the campuses.

You may have seen the new sidewalks being installed leading toward Irvington's middle and high school campus, as well as by Dows Lane Elementary School.

These improvements, and others, are the result of a Safe Routes to School grant, according to a statement from the district.

"Shortly, there will be new lighting on the campus hill as well as a district program to encourage students to walk or bike to school," the statement said.

Moving forward, "To ensure the Village and the School District receive the funding for these improvements, the District is required to perform two parent surveys—one during September and one during June."

Irvington's school administrators are stressing the importance of completing the first survey, which can be found here.
