Irvington's Lady Bulldogs easily defeated Southampton in the Regional Finals by a score of 74-41 at Farmingdale College. The team played a nearly perfect first quarter both offensively and defensively. The press was on and the Bulldogs took full advantage of it with steals, blocked shots, assists and control of the boards at both ends of the floor. The end of the first quarter saw the Bulldogs leading 28-9.
Brittni Lai and Marley Giddins were in total sync, Brittni with the assists and Marley finishing off with the layup. Marley was high scorer with 23 points, 7 rebounds, and 3 blocked shots. Brittni distributed the ball so effectively; ending with 10 assists and 18 points. Lexi Martins and Alyssa DiCampoli dominated on the boards. Lexi grabbed 19 rebounds, had 6 blocks, and 13 points. Alyssa stepped up with 7 rebounds and 4 steals. Ryan McMahon also threw some amazing passes, having 6 assists and 5 points.
Coach Gina Maher was thrilled with the way her team executed. They are looking forward to their third trip in a row to the NYS semi-finals. They will face Saranac at Hudson Valley Community College on Friday, March 16th at 11:45.
