Advocate for the Special Family

The goal of this blog is to provide parents with knowledge on how to advocate for a special needs child. When we learn that our child has special needs, we start a journey of advocacy for that child.

Welcome to my new Blog on the Rivertowns Patch!

My name is Sheryl Frishman and I am an attorney practicing in the area of special needs planning and advocacy. I represent parents of children and adults with special needs. I live in the Rivertowns and am the mother of a child with significant special needs.

The goal of this blog is to provide parents in the Rivertowns with knowledge on how to advocate and plan for their special needs child. When we find out or suspect that our child has special needs, we start a journey of advocacy for that child.

The topics on this blog will teach parents how to be a better advocate for their special needs child. I will cover topics that are relevant for parents who are just starting their journey with a very young child as well as topics for parents who are seasoned veterans with older or adult children.  There will also be topics relevant to adult siblings and grandparents…so make sure they subscribe too!

This special needs forum is designed to help parents become familiar with the complex rules and regulations involved with effectively advocating for their child.  I hope it is a place that parents in the Rivertowns (and beyond) will visit to access information and get the resources they need to assist their special needs child from birth through adulthood.
