Did You Know That October is National Disability Employment Awareness Month?

October is "National Disability Employment Awareness Month." We should rededicate ourselves to improving their employment opportunities in both the public and private sectors.

On October 3, 2011, President Barack Obama proclaimed October 2011 as “National Disability Employment Awareness Month.”  During this month, we should recognize the skills that people with disabilities bring to the workforce and rededicate ourselves to improving the employment opportunities in both the public and private sectors.

The talents and contributions of all people including those with disabilities are vital to the strength of our Nation’s workforce and our future prosperity. President Obama proclaims that “[t]ogether, we can ensure persons living with disabilities have equal access to employment and to inclusive, supportive workplaces.”

This proclamation is a step in the right direction so we, as a nation, can more fully embrace the talents and skills that individuals with disabilities bring to our workplaces and communities and promote the right to equal employment opportunities for all people. We, at Littman Krooks, know the value employing people with disabilities. NYSARC named the law firm of Littman Krooks LLP as the 2007 Employer of The Year. NYSARC is the largest not-for-profit organization in the nation serving persons with developmental disabilities.
