The Basketball Coaches Association of New York announced Thursday that Irvington senior Lexi Martins is one of five finalists for Miss New York Basketball 2013.
According to BCANY, the 6-foot-2 forward is averaing 23.3 points, 13.7 rebounds, 3.2 blocks, two assist and 1.4 steals per game for Irvington (19-2), which will play Blind Brook (18-3) for the Section 1 Class B girls basketball championship 7 p.m. Saturday at the Westchester County Center.
Irvington is seeking its fourth consecutive section and state championships and a third Federation title during Martins career. The Division I Lehigh University recruit is a two-time Class B state player of the year. She was fifth-team all-state as a freshman.
The other finalists for Miss New York Basketball are Saniya Chong of Ossining, Alexandrea Flint of Keshequa, Ernia Willingham-Hurst of Albany and Cassidy Chapko of Hoosic Valley.
