Dobbs Ferry and Hastings competed in the indoor track Class C Sectional Championships yesterday (Feb. 5) at the Armory. Brendan Wortner, Dobbs Ferry High School, won the 3200 meter race in 9:39, and he was third in the 1600 meters in 4:35.

Senior stands out

We thank the Mercy College Sports Information Department for the below submission:

Today (Feb. 4), the Mercy College men’s basketball team dropped an East Coast Conference-match to New York Institute of Technology, 90-79. Junior guard Colin Senior (Hackensack, N.J.) had a game-high 23 points.

Basketball

At Queens on the 1st, Riley Harrington (Irv.'10) of St. Thomas Aquinas scored 5 points on a basket plus 3-3 at the courtesy line, and also had 3 boards in the Falcons ' 61-44 win over the host five.

Hosting Potsdam on the 31st, the New Paltz Hawks out scored their guests, 86-65, with point guard Pippa Mansdorf (H '10) scoring 1 point, plus having 1 assist and a steal on the night.

After being sidelined for two games with an injury, Eastern Connecticut's shooting guard, Nick Nedwick (Irv.'10), came roaring back in a heart stopper at Wesleyan on the 1st, as he , in 32 minutes on the court, scored a game high of 22 points, which resulted from 6 baskets, 1 trey , and 7 of 9 at the foul line.

He also had 8 rebounds, 4 assists, and 2 steals in the 66-65 loss to the Cardinals. Nedwick, with 2 seconds remaining in the game, just missed a shot from beyond the arc that would have meant victory.

At home with New Paltz on the 3rd, Geneseo outscored the guests, 92-74, with Ryan Riefenhauser 3-7 from the floor, and having 4 boards and 2 assists in the win.
