Captain Lawrence to Host Cooktoberfest; Hastings SEPTA Hosts Forum Wednesday

TODAY: The Cookery Restaurant in Dobbs Ferry and Captain Lawrence’s Brewery in Elmsford are hosting Cooktoberfest tonight at from  7:30 p.m.  to 10:30 p.m. The event costs $70 and will take place at the brewery, located at 444 Saw Mill River Rd. in Elmsford.Go here for tickets:https://cooktoberfest.eventbrite.com

TODAY: The Microsoft Store, located in the Westchester Mall  at 125 Westchester Ave,. in White Plains, is having a sneak-peek event for the Microsoft Surface 2 and Surface Pro 2 at a midnight launch event before the nationwide release on Tuesday. Attendees can compete in a fun series of Surface Challenge games to win prizes, one grand prize winner and a guest will win a VIP trip to the Orlando store opening the next day where Pitbull will perform. Things kick-off at 10 p.m.

TUESDAY: Pepe Infiniti, located at 300 Central Ave. in White Plains, is hosting “Stories, Sips & Specialties;” an epicurean adventure featuring local restaurants, breweries and wine distributors.  Come and have a taste of what’s new and different while listening to live music and finding great deals on exclusive experiences, services and products on the silent auction.  There will also be a  presentation by notable fashion designers Marteal & Estrada of White Plains, featuring fabric infused with artwork from the Kids X-Press magazine. Proceeds from the evening benefit Kids X-Press,  a nonprofit organization devoted to giving children the opportunity to express themselves and to see their names in print. At the event, Kids X-Press will present the Touch the Sky award to several students who have participated in Kids X-Press programs and have shown great promise and creativity.

WEDNESDAY: The Hastings SEPTA is hosting Dr. Martin Kutscher Wednesday at 7 p.m. Wednesday inside Hillside Elementary School 120 Lefurgy Ave. in Hastings. Kutscher, a well-known pediatric behavioral neurologist, will cover the full range of symptoms experienced by people with ADHD and their families, including over-reactions, brakeless behaviors, easy frustration, disorganization and future blindness. THURSDAY: The YWCA of White Plains and Central Westchester, located at 515 North St. in White Plains, is hosting “Leaning In, Opting Out, and Breaking the Glass Ceiling” Thursday at 6 p.m .At the symposium, attendees will engage in a discussion with leading advocates on women’s advancement in the workplace. Panelists include Leslie Jane Seymour, Editor of More Magazine; Dr. Pamela Stone, Professor, Hunter College & CUNY Graduate Center; and Kara Underwood,Executive Director, Talent Management, Morgan Stanley Wealth Management.  Tickets cost $40.
