Elections Tuesday; Irvington Board Meets

Here's a look at some of the local happenings this week.

TODAY: The Rivertown Mamas, located at 145 Palisade Street, Suite 247 in Dobbs Ferry, is hosting a discussion group to moms of babies newborn to 1 year. The group will  talk about everything related to life with a new baby including breastfeeding, parenting and sleeping patterns. This is a social group for all new mamas, including second-timers and formula-feeding mamas. The group meets Mondays, 12:15 p.m. to 1:45 p.m. The suggested fee for attending is $20. TODAY: The Rivertown Center for Yoga & Health, located inside the South Presbyterian Church at 343 Broadway in Dobbs Ferry, is hosting the workshop “Mindful Eating for the Holidays” today at 7 p.m. Andrea Tortorella, a holistic health counselor based in Westchester, will teach people how to choose and prepare food that’s real and unprocessed; stop cravings and binges; rely on your own body’s signals for how, when and what to eat; and experience an increase in overall happiness in your life. TODAY: The Irvington village board meeting is scheduled to take place tonight at 7 p.m. inside village. A copy of the agenda can be found here. Village hall is located at 85 Main St. in  Irvington.

TUESDAY: The general election is scheduled Tuesday. Go here to find a polling place.

TUESDAY, THURSDAY and SATURDAY: Little Radical Theatrics proudly announces auditions for its winter production of Ahrens and Flaherty's Once On This Island!. The production will be directed by Michael Mirra with musical direction by Shoshana Seid-Green, choreography by Erin Pryor and stage Management by Julia LaVerde. The performance will be produced by Fatima Viegas. All ethnicities are strongly encouraged to audition and open to all ages. Audition will be held Tuesday and Thursday, from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.; and Saturday from 3 p.m. to 5 p.m.; at ArtsWestchester, located at 31 Mamaroneck Ave. in White Plains.

WEDNESDAY and THURSDAY: The Junior League of Central Westchester (JLCW) invites local residents to start their holiday shopping early at its 27th annual Holiday Boutique. There will be a series of vendors and many local businesses offering a variety of goods. The event promises many exciting features, including merchandise from more than 40 vendors, plated samples from some of Westchester’s premiere restaurants, and wine and spirits tastings. The entrance fee is a suggested donation of  Proceeds will benefit the JLCW’s programs that support the local community. The event takes place at the Lake Isle Country Club on Wednesday , from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m., and Thursday, from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. The suggested donation fee of $36 includes both days. THURSDAY: Westchester Jewish Community Services is hosting its Helping Woman workshop: “Making LinkedIn Work for You -- Learn How to Grasp the Power & Potential of This Vital Asset to Enhance Your Job Search” Thursday at 9:30 a.m. Learn to build a better LinkedIn profile, discover features you did not know existed and be able to research companies and people like never before. Presented by Brian Tietje, Strategic Account Executive, Corporate Solutions, LinkedIn Westchester Community Services is located at 845 N.
