Here are some ways to get out and enjoy the Rivertowns and beyond over the next few days:

Sing along with Raging Grannies

Where/When: 343 Broadway in Dobbs Ferry on Sunday, Sept. 1 at 10 a.m.
Why go: Raging Grannies WOWW are celebrating women this weekend with a special service and poetry reading. Everyone is welcome, as this church’s website says: "members and non-members, Christians and non-Christians, believers and doubters."

Shofar Factory

Where/WhenChabad of the Rivertowns on Sunday, Sept. 1 at 12:30 p.m.
Why go: Get hands on when you make your own geunine Shofar—from sawing to drilling and sanding—this Sunday at Chabad of the Rivertowns in Dobbs Ferry. It's just in time for the High Holidays! RSVP by calling 693-6100.
Pricing: $15/shofar

American Legion Open House

Where/When: American Legion Post (215 Farragut Ave. Hastings) on Saturday, Aug. 31 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Why go: The Admiral Farragut American Legion Post 1195 is hosting a Perennial Open House Saturday for the community. Attendees can tour the facility, speak with members and learn about what the Post.

CORNucopia

Where/WhenPhilipsburg Manor (Sleepy Hollow) on Saturday, Aug. 31 through Monday, Sept. 2, 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Why go: The Historic Hudson Valley has put together its first-ever corn festival, which will features a husking contest, a "maize maze" and corn cooking demos on the farm. Tickets are available online in advance or by calling 631-8200.
Pricing: $14 adults, $12 seniors, $8 children three to 17; free for members

The Polka Brothers in Concert

Where/When: Untermyer Park (945 North Broadway Yonkers) on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 7:30 p.m.
Why go: Bring your own seat to the park as the Untermyer Performing Arts Council continues its 2013 Worlfest summer concert series with The Polka Brothers on Saturday.

Playland's Final Days

Where/WhenRye Playland through Monday, Sept. 2
Why go: Rye Playland's summer season is coming to an end with a final fireworks display Friday, Aug. 30 at 9:15 p.m. The rides shut down after Monday, so it's the last weekend to enjoy the local attraction. Playland is offering $15 night specials, including fireworks, leading up to the closing. Get more information at ryeplayland.org.

Hike the Overlook Trail

Where/WhenTeatown Lake Reservation on Saturday, Aug. 31 at 10 a.m.
Why go: A "moderate" level hike, the Overlook Trail is a popular Hudson Valley destination. This Saturday, look for box turtles and snakes in the blueberry meadow during a guided hike. Call 762-2912 ext. 110 to reserve a spot.
