The Hastings-on-Hudson fire department has 139 volunteer members, a full-time secretary and a full-time chief, RonMore Gagliardi. The department is comprised of four companies, the oldest of which was founded in 1876. Hastings is proud to have one the lowest fire insurance rates for a community with a volunteer department, which responds to an average of 250 fire calls and more than 600 ambulance calls per year. The Fire Department also serves the Donald Park area, even though it lies outside of Hastings.
