October 5 Struck Deer Dies of Injuries 8:44 a.m.—A 58-year-old Colonial Avenue resident reported that there was a gravely injured deer in the road. The deer appeared to have been struck by a driver who left the scene. The deer’s injuries were too severe to save. Police dispatched the deer, and DPW was contacted to pick up the body. October 6 Texts Break Order of Protection 5:15 p.m.—A 19-year-old Dobbs Ferry resident reported receiving unwanted texts from a 21-year-old Cortlandt Manor resident. The defendant allegedly broke the order of protection that had been previously issued. He was arrested on criminal complaint in the first degree, an E-felony. He’ll appear in court later this month. September 22 Teen Steals $2.99 Can of Malt Liquor 8:31 p.m.—An A&P employee reported that the store manager was chasing a shoplifter down Main Street. Patrol were detailed and apprehended the subject, a 17-year-old St. Christopher’s resident. He had allegedly stolen a 23 and half ounce can of Jose Malt Liquor, valued at $2.99. The defendant was arrested on petty larceny, a misdemeanor. He was released back into the custody of St. Christopher’s on 71 Broadway in Dobbs Ferry. He returns to court on October 5th. September 16 Loose Dog Returned to Owner 8:05 a.m.—A Grandview Avenue resident reported seeing a loose dog in the road. Police were dispatched and found the dog and returned it the owner, a male Mohican Park resident. $2,200 Lost in Grandma Scam 9:46 a.m.—An 88-year-old Broadway resident reported that she was the victim of the grandma scam. On September 15th, a man called the resident and identified himself as her grandson’s attorney. He told her that her grandson had been arrested in Mexico and needed $2,200 for bail. The person alleging to be her grandson also got on the phone. The resident was instructed to send the money via Western Union. She did so, and later that day, she got another call from the alleged attorney. He claimed that …

September 7 Mom Jailed for Allegedly Beating Daughter 8:16 p.m.—Police received a call from a Beacon Hill Drive resident reporting that he came home from work, he found his daughter crying. The child told him that her mom had struck her in the back with a belt—the man said she had a red welt on her back. In this week's look at all things police-related, a purse containing $1,200 in cash is stolen from 68-year-old Irvington resident.
May 26 $8-$10,000 in Pool Damages 11:59 a.m.—The property manager of a Beacon Hill Drive apartment complex reported that between 1:30 p.m. on May 23 and 10 a.m. on May 24, he found that the complex’s pool had dirt and dark liquid poured into it. The pool vacuum hose and skimmer was cut with a knife and pumps were reversed, causing chlorine to spray out. The pool had to be drained, cleaned, and refilled with water. The contractor who cleaned it said the dark liquid was an oil base, possibly diesel fuel. Damages were reported between $8-$10,000. This matter is being investigated as criminal mischief in the second degree, a D-felony. Here is a look at some of the incidents reported to or under investigation by Irvington police from May 11 to May 18. May 11 10 Trees Cut to Half Their Size Without Permission 12:17 p.m.—The Irvington Public Works Superintendant reported that unknown persons had damaged approximately 10 tress belonging to the Village of Irvington. The damaged trees are located along the dirt road on West Sunnyside Lane, a dead end street. The trees were topped without any village permission. Once 50 feet, the trees are now 25 feet tall. It is believed that the work was done in January, but it was brought to police attention last week. This matter is still under investigation and is being pursued as damage to village property. April 8 $23,000 in Jewelry & Cash Stolen Within 20 Minutes from DF Home 9:42 a.m.—A 53-year-old Lefurgy Avenue resident reported that while visiting a neighbor between 9:15 a.m. and 9:42 a.m., her home was burglarized. During that period of time, the homeowner had left her door unlocked. When she returned, she found that her bedroom on the second floor had been ransacked. Her purse and its contents were stolen. The contents included her credit cards and $100 in cash. Jewelry was also stolen, including a tennis bracelet and four watches, one a Tag Hauer.
