Hastings to Light Up the Palisades

The Hastings Lights Festival will celebrate the river and give locals a chance to share personal notes in a big way.

What better way to share a special message than with lasers on a scenic Hudson River backdrop?

That's the idea behind Hastings-on-Hudson's annual Lights Festival, this year slated for Saturday, July 13.

The evening (7 to 10 p.m.) will include food, music and lots of lights down at MacEachron Park.

According to the village's website, light sticks and helium balloons with LCD lights inside will keep things bright after dark; along with the laser show that will project onto the Palisades on the Rockland side of the Hudson River.

The Hastings Alumni Association website is selling personalized messages for $20/one sentence or $35/two sentences to help keep the event otherwise free. Message suggestions include wedding proposals and happy birthdays.

There will be no parking on River Street Saturday, but there will be a shuttle to the park from the Zinsser parking lot at the train station.
