Report of Dogs on Tracks Delays Evening Trains in Irvington Area

Metro North shut down a rail during Tuesday's evening commute after receiving a report of dogs on the tracks.

A report of dogs on the Metro North Hudson Line train tracks near Irvington Tuesday evening led to some delays, MTA Spokesperson Aaron Donovan confirmed to Patch.

According to Donovan, Metro North was alerted to the possible hazard at approximately 7 p.m. this evening.

"We had to turn off the third rail's electrical power between Dobbs Ferry and Tarrytown," he said. "Police worked to resolve the issue."

A Tarrytown commuter told Patch his train was held up for about 20 minutes during the police investigation.

"We have five trains delayed," Donovan shared, which are running between 15 and 40 minutes late.

As of 8:12 p.m., Metro North reports, "Hudson Line Service is now operating on or close to schedule. We apologize for any inconvenience you may have experienced as result of this incident."
