John Gorka @ The Purple Crayon
From his beginnings on the coffeehouse scene in the 1970s, John Gorka has built a lasting career in folk music. Named "the preeminent male singer-songwriter of the New Folk Movement" by Rolling Stone magazine, Gorka has toured around the country and world and played with artists like Suzanne Vega, Cliff Eberhardt, Christine Lanvin, and Mary Chapin Carptenter, among others. Over the past few decades, he has released 11 critically acclaimed albums and a collector's edition box set.
NPR has called Gorka "a 'bridge' artist: someone who passes along musical tradition while showcasing his own modern voice...a great writer who knows how to put a tune to a tale." Experience his gift when he comes to The Purple Crayon.
