Rivertowns Holds School Budget Hearings

The public will get weigh in on their district's proposed 2013-14 budget. The budget will be put to vote on May 21.

The Hastings-on-Hudson, Dobbs Ferry and Irvington school districts will hold public hearings on their proposed budgets for the 2013-14 school year. The Rivertowns School District’s will hold school board elections and their budget votes on Tuesday, May 21.

The Hastings-on-Hudson Board of Education will hold the hearing during its meeting at 7 p.m. in the Russell Lecture Room, 1 Mount Hope Blvd. Hastings School District proposes to raise taxes by 3.44 percent, an increase of $25.74 per $1,000 of assessed value, to fund its $43,895,492 spending plan. The tax rate equates to $774.70 per thousand dollars of assessed value. 

Click here for more information on the 2013-14 budget for Hastings-on-Hudson. Residents of the school district will a vote on the budget and school board election from 7 a.m. and 9 p.m. in the Cochran Gym at Hastings-on-Hudson High School, corner of School Street and Hillside Avenue.

The Dobbs Ferry Board of Education will hold its hearing during its meeting on Thursday, May 9 at 7 p.m. in the high/middle school library, 505 Broadway. Dobbs Ferry School District proposes to raise taxes 4.5 percent, an increase of $33.58 per thousand dollars of assessed value, to cover its proposed $40,084,321 spending plan. The tax rate equates to $775.69 per thousand dollars of assessed value.

Residents of the school district will vote on the budget and school board election from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Dobbs Ferry High School Gym, 505 Broadway. The Irvington School District will hold its public hearing at 7:30 p.m. in the Campus Presentation Room at Irvington High School, 40 North Broadway.

The superintendent will give an overview of the budget before the hearing is held. Irvington is proposing to raise taxes by 4.85 percent, an increase of $25.77 per thousand dollars of assessed value, to cover its $54,070,000 budget. The tax rate equates to $643.61 per thousand dollars of assessed value. This will mean an extra $500 a year in taxes for a home with an assessed value of $500,000.

Click here for more information on the budget. Irvington School District will hold a budget forum where residents can ask last minutes questions on the proposed spending plan on Thursday, May 16 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Main Street School auditorium, 101 Main St.

The last day to register to vote is Thursday, May 16 from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. in the lobby of the Main Street School.  School district residents will vote on the budget and school board election from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. in the Main Street School auditorium, 101 Main St.
