Patch Picks: Best Spots to Meet a Friend for Coffee
Looking for a spot in the Rivertowns to meet a friend to chat or sit and do a crossword?
As caffeine-addict who works out of a virtual office, I think of a good coffee shop as a second home. Whether meeting someone to interview for an article, catching-up with a friend or setting up my computer somewhere else for a change of scenery, I am grateful for the awesome selection of cafes we have in the Rivertowns.
The following is my list of Patch Picks. Disagree? Which are your favorites?
- Dobbs Ferry
A Central point in the Rvertowns, this relatively new coffee shop wins for the convenience factor. They also have a make-your-own salad bar if you get hungry while working—which I often do.

- Irvington
At the bottom of Main Street, The Black Cat is the ideal place to meet a friend. Besides drinks, they have a fantastic breakfast and lunch selection, with sandwiches, soups, egg dishes and salads.
- Hastings
I discovered Hastings Station Cafe one running through it to catch a train—but now I go even when I'm not headed anywhere.

A true Italian coffee shop, you can get espresso the way it's meant to be. Their authentic gelato is also admittedly a draw!
- Irvington
Though not exactly a Starbucks-style coffee shop...it's a cupcake kitchen. Need I say more?
