No Day But Today to See "RENT"

The Cocktower Players' teen troupe will perform Jonathan Larsen's landmark musical RENT this weekend at the .

High School students from Hastings, Dobbs Ferry, Irvington, Tarrytown, Sleepy Hollow and other nearby communities comprise the cast, which Artistic Director Cagle McDonald said is "an extremely talented group of students."

A modern twist on the classic opera La Boheme, RENT is about young artists and professionals living (and dying) in New York City in the early 1990s. Although AIDS is the underlying theme in the show, its upbeat music will stay with you for hours after you have left the theater.

"The band is phenomenal," McDonald said. "The drummer was in the original Broadway show and the electric guitar player comes from the national tour." (McDonald said the two professionals signed on to perform with the teens because of their pure love of the show.)

Show times are 7:30 p.m. Saturday, Feb. 12 and 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 13. Tickets are $15 for students and $20 for adults.
