Man Hit in Face with Wrench or Cell Phone

This report was derived from information from the Dobbs Ferry Police Department, it does not indicate a conviction.

Dobbs Ferry Police reported to Cedar Street on a call of a fight in progress on Nov. 27 around 2:47 p.m. When officers arrived they observed lacerations to left eyebrow and cheek bone of a 40-year-old Ardsley man who said a 47-year-old Dobbs Ferry man caused the injuries by striking him in the face with a wrench.

The Ardsley resident said he allegedly the went to go retrieve a metal snow shovel, but police arrived during the physical altercation and broke up the fight before he could use the shovel. According to police reports the 47-year-old allegedly had a verbal confrontation with the Ardsley resident’s wife earlier in the day after she took the trash out and left it near the curb in front of the business where the 47-year-old worked.

He claimed that he was only defending himself and that he threw a cell phone at the Ardsley resident, and not a wrench, police said. Both parties declined to press charges or to cooperate further with police.
