Take Me to the River; Dogs Go for a Dip

Here's a look at some upcoming local happenings in the Rivertowns area this weekend.

Here are some ways to get out and enjoy the Rivertowns and beyond over the next few days:

The Take Me to the River Music & Arts Festival

Where/When: Draper Park in Hastings on Saturday, Sept. 7 from 12 to 7 p.m.
Why go: Live performances, art installations and kid-friendly activities are on tap Saturday for the seventh annual arts and music festival in Hastings. There will also be raffles, environmental booths, vendors and more. Click here to browse photos from last year's festival. Read more about this year's lineup here.
Pricing: $18 in advance; $25 at-the-gate; $5 youths ages 10 to 17; $10 for seniors and student with ID

Dog Days of Summer

Where/When: Anthony F. Veteran Park (11 Olympic Ln. Ardsley) on Sunday, Sept. 8 from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Why go: The Greenburgh Department of Parks and Recreation is closing out the summer season with a splash, as is tradition, with a dogs-only pool party on Sunday. Bring your friendly pooch to the pool to cool off with a dip and make some new canine companions. All participating dogs must register on-site and be licensed and have all current vaccinations. 
Pricing: $5 per dog

Movie Night Out

Where/When: Gould Park in Dobbs Ferry on Saturday, Sept. 7 at 8 p.m.
Why go: Head outdoors for a family-friendly screening of Wreck-It Ralph Saturday evening. Nonna's Deli and BBQ will be selling dinner and drinks on site, so stop by early and get settled in before the 8 p.m. movie time. Joe Rooney will provide live entertainment.
Pricing: Free

Andrus Hastings FD Barbecue

Where/WhenAndrus On Hudson on Sunday, Sept. 8 from 3 to 6 p.m.
Why go: Andrus on Hudson will be honoring the volunteer members of the Hastings-on-Hudson Fire Department with a barbecue for its volunteer members and their families. Mayor Peter Swiderski will present a proclamation to the FD. There will also be a 50/50 raffle (tickets $10 each) that will benefit the department.
Pricing: $20

6th Toughman Half Iron

Where/When: Croton Point Park on Sunday, Sept. 8, opening ceremonies begin at 6:30 a.m.*
Why go: Spectators are welcome to cheer on the racers at Croton Point Park, where admission is free, and along the adult course through the Historic Hudson River Towns. For more information on the triathlons, including a guide spectators, go to http://toughmantri.com. And drivers: note the road closure alert for race on Route 9 and 9A here.
Pricing: Free to spectate

Sleepy Hollow Street Fair

Where/When: Beekman Avenue in Sleepy Hollow on Saturday, Sept. 7, beginning at 10 a.m.
Why go: The 17th annual street fair in Sleepy Hollow will feature a number of local food vendors, ribs being grilled up by the Fire Department, a kids carnival, kids science fair and live entertainment.
