Why go: Hastings Mayor Peter Swiderski, a 17-year village resident, will be speaking as part of the library's Dewey-on-Hudson series. Stop by to speak with the mayor about the village's "current events."

John Gorka Live

Where/WhenThe Purple Crayon on Friday, June 28 at 8 p.m.
Why go: Folk musician John Gorka has been recognized by Rolling Stone magazine and toured the country along with his release of 11 albums. He will be performing live at The Purple Crayon Friday night. Tickets can be purchased online in advance.

Really Terrible Orchestra of Westchester Concert

Where/WhenWarner Library (121 N. Broadway Tarrytown) on Saturday, June 29 at 2:30 p.m.
Why go: The Really Terrible Orchestra of Westchester, a non-profit, is bringing together its members—all included without an audition—for a free concert Saturday. This concert will include works from The Wizard of Oz, as well as composers like Brahms, Ravel, Dvorak and Mendelssohn.

Dobbs Ferry Farmers Market

Where/When: Corner of Cedar Street and Main Street Friday, June 28 (and every Friday until Thanksgiving) from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
Why go: The local market's 2013 vendors include The Cookery's Doughnation, which makes fresh pizza on site; baked goods from Big Girl Baking Co. and fresh fruits and vegetables from Westchester Greenhouses & Farm, among others.

Friday Open Stories

Where/WhenIrvington Public Library on Friday, June 28 at 11 a.m. (all-summer-long)
Why go: Kevin will be leading stories and songs for all ages on Friday this summer at the library. Stop by to join in.
